A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone to act as an artificial tooth root, onto which a crown, bridge or denture is later fixed. At Alanya Dental Help, our dental clinic in Alanya, implants are used to replace a single missing tooth, several teeth or a full arch, giving patients a fixed solution that looks and functions much like natural teeth.
During healing, the bone bonds to the implant surface, a process called osseointegration, which gives the new tooth a stable foundation. Implant treatment needs careful planning, so we begin with a free consultation, an examination and X-rays or 3D imaging where needed. Dt. Duygu Gürleyen then explains whether implants are suitable for you, how many are needed and what the timeline will look like.
Who is suitable for dental implants?
Most healthy adults with one or more missing teeth can be assessed for implants. Sufficient bone volume and healthy gums are important.
Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, certain medications and gum disease can affect healing, so please tell us about your medical history so we can plan safely.
- Adults whose jaws have finished growing
- Patients with a single gap or several missing teeth
- Denture wearers who want more stability
- People in good general health
Advantages of implants
Implants do not rely on neighbouring teeth, so healthy teeth do not need to be prepared as they would be for a bridge. An implant also helps to preserve the jawbone, which tends to shrink where a tooth is missing, and fixed implant teeth allow comfortable chewing and speaking.
Alternatives and additional procedures
Alternatives to implants include fixed bridges and removable dentures, and we explain the pros and cons of each. If the bone is too thin, bone grafting or a sinus lift may be needed before or during implant placement, which can extend the overall treatment time.
Healing and aftercare
Some swelling and discomfort are normal for a few days after surgery and can usually be controlled with the medication we recommend. Eat soft foods at first, avoid smoking and follow the hygiene instructions carefully. Once the final teeth are fitted, regular brushing, interdental cleaning and check-ups help keep the implant and gums healthy.
Implant treatment in Alanya: planning two visits
Implant treatment is usually completed in two stages. On the first visit the implant is placed; after a healing period of usually a few months, you return for the final crown or bridge. Many patients plan both visits as a dental holiday in Alanya, combining treatment with time on the Antalya coast.
Between visits our team stays in contact with you, and you can reach us by phone at any time if you have concerns.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is implant surgery painful?
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia, so you should feel pressure but not pain. Afterwards some soreness and swelling are common for a few days and can usually be managed with standard pain relief.
How long do dental implants last?
Implants are designed as a long-term solution and can last many years with good oral hygiene and regular check-ups. Smoking, gum disease and poor cleaning increase the risk of problems.
Do I need to come to Alanya twice?
Usually, yes. The first visit is for implant placement and the second, after the healing period, is for the final teeth. The interval depends on your bone and the area treated.
Can I get teeth on the same day?
In some cases a temporary tooth or bridge can be attached shortly after placement, but this depends on bone quality and implant stability. We can only confirm whether it is possible after examining you.
What if I do not have enough bone?
Bone grafting or a sinus lift can often rebuild the area so that an implant can be placed. These procedures may add healing time, and we explain this clearly in your treatment plan.
