The World Health Organization recommends that the first dental examination to be done after the first tooth erupts (usually between 6 months and 1 year of age).
The purpose of this first examination at an early age is to show parents what they need to do to prevent baby's teeth from decaying and to keep oral-dental health and jaw-face development under control by calling you for checkups at regular intervals.
When your baby's teeth start to come out,
you must take the following precautions:

After cleaning your baby's teeth with a wet cloth, put them to sleep.

Do not let your baby sleep while breastfeeding.

Do not put your baby to sleep with a bottle filled with sugar and honey milk mixture.

If bottle feeding is to be aplied, do not put the bottle into your own mouth to check the temperature.

When the child is 1 year old, stop breastfeeding and using bottles and try to give liquid foods in a glass.

Clean your child's teeth only with a toothbrush. Help the baby in oral care until all of his milk teeth are erupted (2.5-3 years old).
Decayed milk teeth should be treated because;

Even superficial dental caries in milk teeth threaten adjacent teeth with caries.

If the tooth decay in the primary tooth progresses and reaches the nerve of the tooth and causes inflammation over time, it may affect the permanent teeth from below and cause various disorders.

If the primary teeth are extracted early, the extraction gap is closed in such a way that the incoming permanent tooth cannot settle, as the adjacent teeth will slide towards the extraction space, and crowding occurs.

Decayed teeth cause bad breath and the child's inability to chew on the side with the decayed tooth.

Decayed milk teeth may cause the child to meet with pain at an early age and to develop some phobias in the future.
The primary aim of pediatric dentistry is to take measures to prevent dental problems and to guide children to a caries-free future. Fluoride application and fissure sealant application are preventive dentistry applications that will provide this.
Flor Application:
It is a simple and protective application that takes about 5 minutes to strengthen the building block of the teeth and make them more resistant to caries.
Its effect is variable according to the caries risk group and lasts for about 4-6 months. It is one of the most effective methods of protecting against cavities.
Pit and fissure sealant application:
The chewing surfaces of the molars are indented and these areas, which we call fissures, are difficult to clean. Food residues can easily get stuck in these pits and mounds and cause tooth decay.
It is the fissure sealant application to clean the recesses and protrusions with a fluid, filling-like material and make them easy to clean.
With this application, which can only be applied to molars, the risk of caries is significantly reduced.
