Can I have an implant right after tooth extraction?

Implant applications can be made immediately at the time of tooth extraction, this process is called immediate implant surgery. In order to be successful, the bone and infection status in the extracted tooth area should be carefully evaluated and decided. If it will not be placed immediately, the patient can have an implant after 6-8 weeks of bone healing from the extraction.

How is the Implant Applied?

In the first examination, it is determined whether the area with missing teeth is suitable for the implant. If it is decided that the bone structure is suitable for implant treatment after panoramic radiography or three-dimensional imaging (tomography), the treatment is started.

If the bone structure and gums are not in a position to carry the implant, additional bone surgery can be applied.

Implants are placed into the bone by a dentist under local anesthesia with a minor surgical operation. After this process, the waiting period begins for the implant to fuse with the jawbone and to gain real tooth root function.

This period may vary depending on the type of operation, region, age and general health of the patient and may vary between 5 weeks and 6 months. The patient will not be left alone toothless by making a suitable temporary dentures during this healing process.

In the last stage, the fixed or removable prosthesis suitable for the patient is placed on the new tooth root consisting of implants and the treatment is completed.
